NEW Online RCIS Review I & II Classes
Course Objectives:
The student will:
● Become familiar with the RCIS exam for Cath Lab professionals
● Evaluate and increase readiness for the RCIS exam
● Improve study methods and problem solving skills
● Use critical thinking to discuss current CV topics
● Increase appreciation for teamwork within the cath. lab
Course Description:
● This online course is open to any cardiac cath lab employee preparing for the
RCIS national exam(Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Professional).
It is a continuing education course offered by Spokane Community College through
a professional online learning website.

Course cost is $176 plus CD.
● Students may log onto the course at any time, through any computer modem, and
contribute to the "threaded discussions," which are much like email.
● Required homework involves studying cardiovascular review questions, answers, and rationales
from Todd's interactive CD. This leads naturally to the online discussion. Here students use
critical thinking skills to discuss their progress on each chapter, problem areas, current
cath lab issues, and standards of care.
● There are no prerequisites and the following course units I & II may be taken in any sequence.

● Course Description: RCIS Exam Review I for
CVT's, RT's & RN's. This online course is open to any cardiac cath lab employee preparing for the RCIS
national exam (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Professional). Units I and II may be taken in any order.
Students must have access to a PC, CD player, and online connection. Required homework involves
studying cardiovascular review questions, answers, and rationales from an interactive CD. This leads naturally to the online discussion.
● The review course I emphasizes: Hemodynamics, CV
Pressures, Related Cardiac Pathologies, X-ray Equipment and Safety, Introduction to Pharmacology,
Vascular Anatomy, Physiology and Angiography, and Catheterization Equipment. Students will purchase and
review Todd's CV Review CD (additional $160 cost, not included in the tuition). Students must be registered
by March 25, 2002.

● Course Description:
This online RCIS Exam Review II course for CVTs, RTs and RNs is open to any cardiac
cath lab employee preparing for the RCIS national exam Units II and I may be taken in any order,
Students must have access to a PC with a CD-ROM drive and a connection to the Internet Required
homework involves studying cardiovascular review questions, answers and rationales from an interactive
CD, This leads naturally to the online discussion, Students are expected to dedicate three to five study
hours each week.
● The review course II emphasizes: electrophysiology
and ECG, ACLS, cardiac and coronary anatomy and pathology, coronary arteriography and interventions,
LV angiography, cardiac output, cath indications, protocol, vascular access, cardiac surgery, asepsis and
practice RCIS exams.
● TEXT: Students will purchase and review the Todd
CV Review CD, which has an additional cost of $160 and is not included in the tuition.
