CardioVascular
Orientation Program

Site Map
CardioVascular Orientation Program (CVOP) is approved by
the American Association of Critical Care Nurses and
the American Society of Radiological Technologists
for 36 Category (A) Credits.

Thorough and timely orientation of new cath lab staff is vital for them to function efficiently and safely. Staffing shortages don't always allow for adequate training and continuing education, our program is installed on-site for all of your staff to use as time is allocated.

A "protected time frame" of 90 days is usually given for new orientees to learn to function in the lab and learn why they do what they do. This timeframe allows both new staff member and the institution to see if the 'shoe fits'. The CardioVascular Orientation Program is a comprehensive education program that will facilitate the training needs of your cath lab. Marsha Holton, RN & Wes Todd, RCIS

TRAIN NEW STAFF
Our comprehensive orientation and educational system uses many tools and audio-visual methods to facilitate the learning process. Our system was developed with these needs in mind. The traditional orientation timeframe is 12 weeks. We have modeled the CVOP on this traditional timeframe. The time is organized it into workable components; allowing for hands-on patient care, and time to learn the didactics of the field.

Continuing Education Credits
Many professionals, nurses, technologists, and radiology technologists need continuing educational credits to recertify for their specific licensure requirements. Our program is approved by ASRT and CCRN for 36 Category "A" CE's. The software prints certificates for the various modules completed.

RCIS
The CVOP will help staff prepare for the Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Examination (RCIS), the registry examination recognized by our field. The CVOP Training CDThe best part of the CVOP program is that it is on site for you and your staff to use and review as you have the time. This on-site availability also allows the time for staff to complete hospital mandatories that JACHO may require, such as Pharmacology and ACLS Reviews, while having CV training and examination preparatory information immediately available.

ON SITE TRAINING
There are 2 days on-site training included with the program. A trained cath lab RN shows you how to set up and implement the program. Our program already facilitates the orientation and educational needs at institutions and colleges such as The Cleveland Clinic, and Howard Community School of Cardiovascular Technology. This program can be adapted and adjusted to meet the needs of your specific institution.

COMPUTER BASED LEARNING
The CVOP uses the well known Todd CV Review CD, which comes with an unlimited site license so you can network it to any computers in your hospital.
